PM2.5 is one of the most dangerous forms of air pollution. According to a report of WHO around 4 million people die due to the diseases caused by air pollution worldwide. Due to this lockdown, India has noticed a drastic change in the levels of PM 2.5 as shown in the picture. Particularly Delhi which is considered as the most polluted city is now breathing clean air for three weeks. Yamuna River is now cleaner and looking beautiful. In many other cities too we can see a change in their look. The sky is now Blue and at night, we can clearly see stars. Many animals have come out on the roads. Beaches are now occupied by turtles and other animals. Dolphins have been spotted in the sea near Mumbai. The Himalayas is now visible from Jhalandar which is approx 200 km away. So we can say this coronavirus Lockdown has a positive impact on the environment.  The same impact is also seen in other countries too.

Will This Continue?

It is nice to see such a downfall in the pollution levels but unfortunately, it is unlikely that this will continue. In China, where lockdown has been removed there a sudden rise in pollution level as factories are reopened and vehicles are back on roads. The same will happen in most cities unless the government doesn't take some significant steps after the lockdown to prevent the rise in pollution levels too. The government should prioritize this matter and promote the use of Renewable sources of Energy and many other steps can be taken. If you also want to see such a beautiful and cleaner environment then you should take some steps. Hoping we will cope with this pandemic soon and will live a normal life along with a clean environment.
