We have passed only 3 months in 2020 but have witnessed many things that have made this year worst so far. Not only for Delhi or India but for the whole world 2020 is outcoming as the worst year. But here we will talk only about Delhi.

1. Protests, and Violence against Students.

In the month of January, many protests started against CAA and NRC and we can say Delhi was the capital of such protests but that's a separate issue, Protests are an integral part of Democracy and India has witnessed many such protests. But, A new thing that happened here was Violence against students. Many Policemen entered the Library of Jamia Milia Islamia University and beaten them which later became a big controversy. Many young guys with sticks had entered JNU Campus and beaten many students targetting the leader of the Student Union. Apart from these, many drunk men had entered the Campus of Gargi College and molested girls present in a function. All such activities are shameful for all of us.

2. Election Campaign

Delhi had its Legislative Assembly or Vidhan Sabha Elections in February which has witnessed one the worst Election Campaign which consisted of many hate speeches and misleading propaganda but all that was disregarded by everyone.

3. Northeast Delhi Riot

One of the saddest incidents that happened in Delhi ever is 2020 Delhi Riot took place in the last week of February. Communal violence had broken into many areas in Northeast Delhi which have taken many lives, shattered many families, many lost their business or livelihood. As per official records, 53 people died out of which two-third were Muslims and rest were Hindus and 200+ Injuries reported. Another creepy incident happened a few days later, a rumor of fresh violence spread all around Delhi from Rohini to Badarpur or  Dwarka to Shahadra, which scared most of the people. This was truly unexpected for us but soon Delhi Police and local politicians busted the rumors.

4. Coronavirus Pandemic

Unlike the above, this pandemic has shaken the whole world. Most developed countries are now the most suffering from this fatal disease. As of 8th April, Delhi has over 500 cases and 7 has died. The city is under lockdown since March 22. Delhi has also witnessed a controversy of Nizamuddin Markaz in which Jamatis are alleged of spreading this virus to many towns but now it is more propaganda against some people. We hope this Pandemic will get over soon and everything will come to normal.

5. Earthquake

On 12th April an earthquake of 3.8 magnitudes hit Delhi NCR and on the second day, 13th April, another earthquake of 2.7 magnitudes again hit Delhi. Both had their epicentre on the Delhi-UP Border. When Delhiites were already suffering from a global Pandemic this earthquake increased their worries. Fortunately, no casualties had reported. Of the five seismic zones, Delhi falls under the fourth-highest zone, making it vulnerable to earthquakes. Click Here to read more.
