One can obtain pass only for the house gallery and can watch live proceedings of the house for one hour. Entry pass can be obtained through two channels:
  1. Any MP can recommend your name for an entry pass. You have to fill an application form available at the official website of Parliament (click here to get the form), providing the details required in the proforma and duly signed by a Hon’ble MP from his constituency or any other constituency. With his recommendation letter, you can approach parliament reception and get your pass furnished. Do carry a valid identity card like voter ID or Adhar card.
  2. Any Gazetted officer working in Loksabha or Rajyasabha secretariat can recommend your name for the entry pass. The procedure is the same thereafter.
  • Requests for Visitors Cards are normally entertained at least one day previous to the date for which they are required.
  • Generally, reservations must be made a single day before the session one wishes to attend by filling the form which must reach the Centralised Pass Issue Cell ( CPIC ) not later than by 4 P.M. on the day before the session one wishes to attend.
  • A single application may contain the names and particulars of not more than 4 persons willing to visit the House.
  • Visitors’ Cards issued on previous day applications are sent to the members at their residences along with Parliamentary papers.
  • After you get your pass. You have to reach parliament on time and go through at least 6 phases of intense checking and then only you can enter the visitor gallery on your allotted time.
Note that Coins, pen, pencil, paper, mobile phone, recording instrument or any loose item are not allowed inside the visitor gallery. You have to deposit these things in a locker.

Overall it will be a great experience. You get to see all the leaders in one place. You observe how they carry themselves, how they interact and behave. A lot is not shown on TV but one must visit at least once to get a glimpse of our leaders and the work they do.
